1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Block Party Live ("BPL", "we", "us", "our"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use our platform. These terms apply to all users including hosts, vendors, guests, and promoters.

2. What BPL Is

Block Party Live is a marketplace platform that connects event hosts with vendors and facilitates ticket sales. BPL is not a party planning company, a staffing agency, or an event production company. We provide the technology to connect people — all agreements, contracts, and responsibilities are between the host and vendor directly. BPL does not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any event or vendor service.

3. User Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • You may not create multiple accounts or impersonate others
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • BPL reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms

4. Platform Fees

BPL charges a platform fee on transactions processed through the platform:

  • Hosts pay a 4% BPL service fee on bookings and ticket purchases
  • Vendors receive their agreed amount minus a 4% BPL fee
  • BPL total platform fee is 8% per transaction
  • Stripe payment processing fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) are passed through to the buyer
  • Fees are non-refundable except where required by law
  • BPL reserves the right to modify fees with 30 days notice to users

5. Payments and Escrow

Payments for vendor bookings are held in escrow by Stripe until the host confirms the vendor has arrived at the event. Once confirmed, funds are released to the vendor minus BPL's platform fee. BPL is not responsible for disputes between hosts and vendors regarding services rendered. All payment disputes must be resolved between the parties directly or through Stripe's dispute resolution process.

6. Cancellations and Refunds

  • Vendors are responsible for honoring their booking commitments
  • Hosts are responsible for paying agreed amounts upon vendor arrival confirmation
  • Ticket sales are generally non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the host
  • BPL platform fees are non-refundable on completed transactions
  • Cancellation disputes should be directed to blockpartylive26@gmail.com

7. Vendor Responsibilities

  • Vendors are independent contractors, not employees of BPL
  • Vendors are responsible for their own licenses, permits, and insurance
  • Vendors must accurately represent their services and pricing
  • Vendors are responsible for complying with all applicable laws including liquor permits, food handling permits, and event regulations
  • BPL is not liable for any vendor's failure to obtain required permits or licenses

8. Host Responsibilities

  • Hosts are responsible for obtaining all required event permits and licenses
  • Hosts are responsible for ensuring their venue allows the planned activities
  • Hosts must accurately represent their events to guests and vendors
  • Hosts are responsible for guest safety at their events
  • BPL is not liable for any incidents that occur at events organized through our platform

9. Content Policy

  • You may not upload illegal, harmful, or offensive content
  • You may not use BPL to facilitate illegal activities
  • You retain ownership of content you upload but grant BPL a license to display it on the platform
  • BPL reserves the right to remove content that violates these terms
  • Do not upload content that infringes on others' intellectual property

10. Limitation of Liability

Block Party Live is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. BPL is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. BPL's total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the platform shall not exceed the amount of fees you paid to BPL in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Promo Codes

BPL may issue promo codes at its discretion that reduce or waive platform fees for specific transactions. Promo codes are non-transferable, cannot be combined, and may have expiration dates. BPL reserves the right to cancel or modify promo codes at any time.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Cook County, Illinois.

13. Changes to Terms

BPL reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by email. Continued use of BPL after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
